DESCRIPTION:

This Olympic distance Triathlon will start and end at Fort Ritchie in Cascade, MD.....just 20 minutes from Frederick, MD and Hagerstown, MD, and 90 minutes from Baltimore and DC.  Fort Ritchie is an old military base that is being converted to a private residential community.  The property is a beautiful venue for multisport racing and will also host the Fort Ritchie Duathlon in May.

Race Limit:    500 participants

Start:  The race will be separated into waves with the Open Division going first.  This will be an in water start.

Swim Course: The swim course will be in Lake Royer and will be two laps of a 750 meter course.  After lap one you will exit the lake and run across a small beach (wave to your fans) and run down the pier and jump back in for lap 2.  The Open Division will be the first into the water followed by sperate waves every few minutes.  Waves will be identified by swim cap color.

Bike Course:  The bike course leaves Fort Ritchie and navigates through hills and valley on wide shoulders and low traffic country roads.  The first section of the course is fast with a nice long down hill section.  The second part of the course is rolling through the valley.  The final section is a long gradual up hill.

Run Course:  The 10K run will be 2 loops around the same 5K course.   The 5K course is a loop and will navigate through Fort Ritchie.  Being on private property, vehicular traffic will be minimal if at all.  The course has some slight elevation but is not difficult.  You will be able to wave to your fans after lap one.

Transition Area:  There is only one transition area for this event.

Timing:  This event is chip timed!  We will be providing race day results as well as split times that will be posted within 24 hours of the event.
